How we review online casinos

Research from published terms and official records, with a source and check date behind every fact.

What we check for each casino

  • Operator and ownership. Who runs the site, which company holds the licence and which other brands the terms tie to the same company.
  • Licence. The regulator, the licence number and what the regulator’s own register showed when we last checked it.
  • Payments and withdrawals. Deposit and withdrawal methods, published minimums and limits, pending periods, published processing ranges, fees and whether a pending withdrawal can be reversed.
  • Identity checks (KYC). When identity checks are required and which documents the terms say may be requested.
  • Bonus terms. Wagering multiple and what it applies to, maximum bet, expiry, caps on winnings and how pokies contribute.
  • Responsible-gambling tools. Deposit, loss and session limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion, where the operator documents them.
  • Games and providers. Provider coverage and counts where the casino publishes them.

Where our information comes from

We prefer primary sources: regulator and government records, payment providers’ official pages and the operator’s own terms. We have not checked national company registries; company names and registration numbers come from the casino’s terms or the licence register, and the page says which. We use secondary publications only when no primary record is available, and label them as secondary. Player forums and review sites are not used as sources.

AI tools help us collect these documents, record what they state and prepare first drafts. They do not decide what is true, and an editor reviews every page before it is published. Our editorial policy explains how we use them.

How each fact is labelled

Every fact on the site carries one of these labels:

Verified — primary source
Confirmed in a primary source such as a regulator register, company registry or the operator’s own terms.
Verified — regulator
Confirmed in a regulator’s or government’s own record.
Verified — operator's own pages
Stated in the operator’s published terms or official pages.
Secondary source
Supported by a credible secondary publication, not a primary record.
Operator claim
Something the operator says (often marketing, such as payout speed) that we could not verify independently.
Unconfirmed
We looked and could not confirm it. We say so rather than guess.
Conflicting sources
Sources disagree. We show the conflict instead of picking a value.
Outdated
Superseded by a newer check; kept only in the change history.

Where a fact is unconfirmed, the page says so rather than filling the gap with an estimate.

What we do not claim

Our reviews are based on documents, not on play. We have not made deposits, withdrawals or identity checks at the casinos we review, and we do not describe transactions or support chats as if we had. If that ever changes, the page will show the evidence. Worked examples use hypothetical amounts and are labelled as an example, calculation, scenario or simulation.

Why there are no star ratings

We do not publish scores such as 9.8/10 or rank casinos against each other. A single number hides the terms that matter to a particular reader. Instead, each review gives an editorial summary, the strengths and limitations we found, and the evidence behind them. If we ever introduce a score, we will publish its method first and score only what the data can support.

How often we re-check

Terms change, so each type of information has its own review window. The table below shows how long each type can go before it is due for a re-check, and when a page marks it as overdue.

How often we re-check each type of information
Information Due for review after Shown as overdue after
Bonus terms 14 days 30 days
Payment and withdrawal information 21 days 30 days
Licence and operator identity 30 days 60 days
Other casino facts (games, mobile, tools) 30 days 60 days
Evergreen guides 90 days 180 days

Shorter windows apply to the information that changes most often, such as bonus terms. When a check finds a material change, we record the old and new value with the date and source, and every page that uses the fact updates. Meaningful changes appear in the page’s change log.

Commercial relationships

We earn a commission when a reader opens an account through a button labelled “Affiliate link”, including on reviews of casinos whose providers ACMA has formally warned. Offers are recorded separately from the evidence and do not change the facts we publish, how they are labelled, or the regulator record each review states. We do not link to a casino whose own terms or website exclude players in Australia, and we list casinos alphabetically rather than ranking them. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
